Both of these fighters have been at each other for a while now, so this match does not surprise many fans.

The odds are against Diaz, who has been pitted as the underdog on many betting sites in Ontario since he has not won a fight since 2019. He lost three of his last four fights, which is why he is the underdog on most sites.

On the other hand, Khamzat Chimaev has been on a winning streak and even landed the biggest win of his career.

This was in a match against Gilbert Burns, a serious test for the fighter, but he still managed to become victorious.

Based on this, Chimaev is a massive fan favourite over Diaz, and we will check out some of the odds of this fight on popular sportsbooks below.

In case of odds, Bet365 is actually the top if you opt for the best returns while betting on Chimaev. If you bet on Diaz – DraftKings & BetMGM provides the most lucrative odds.

Chimaev vs Nate Diaz UFC 279 Betting Odds Analysis

Many people consider the matchup between Khamzat Chimaev and Nate Diaz a mismatch, considering both fighters' uneven records.

28-year-old Chimaev has racked up 11 wins and 0 losses. He is on an 11-fight win streak of 5 knockouts, 5 submissions, and one win by decision.

This epic fighter has a 91% finish rate and has always been a fan favourite, but nothing as fantastic as this match that's about to hold.

His opponent, Nate Diaz, has not been doing so great even though he has managed to rack up 20 wins all through his career.

However, he has an 80% finish rate, with 4 knockout wins, 15 submissions, and 4 wins by submissions. He has racked up 11 losses through his career and lost 3 of his last five matches.

Nate Diaz is currently on a 2-fight losing streak making him the underdog against the rising start Chimaev.

This is why this match is so critical.

At one corner, we have Chimaev, a rising star with no losses and an 11-fight win streak.

On the other hand, we have Nate Diaz, who is more experienced but with 11 losses and a two-fight loss streak. His experience makes it tricky to determine who will win, and we can’t wait to see how this match will end.

Our UFC 279 Fight Prediction

Chimaev’s last fight against Gilbert Burns tested his skill, but he managed to scale through.

In this match, he showed a lot of endurance, strength, and wrestling skills. Even though his equally skilled opponent pressured him until the match ended in a decision, Khamzat still managed to win.

This adaptable fighter quickly changed stances and creatively changed combos until he won his fight against Burns. Even though Burns rocked him during this fight, he endured until he bounced back, showing that he had no plans to give up.

Not many young fighters are like Chimaev, who have a dominating physique with skills to support it.

After his battle with Burns, he has become mentally tested and in peak physical form. This is why the odds are not in favour for Diaz, a much older fighter who has not won a fight since 2019.

We feel this matchup will be one-sided, with Khamzat easily landing the win, but we still won't mind seeing how Chimaev vs Diaz happens.

This bout between two light heavyweight finishers is slated for UFC 279. Jonny Walker currently has a record of 18-7 in the MMA and 4-4 in the UFC, while Ion Cutelaba has a record of 16-7-1 in the MMA and 5-6-1 in the UFC.

Cutelaba has not been producing the best results lately, as Ryan Spann recently defeated him by submission.
